Midwest Fitfest February 14-15, 2009 WELCOME! We are very excited to host Midwest FitFest 2009! This will be the first time that Midwest FitFest is being hosted in the State of Missouri. Since I was an undergraduate student at Ball State University (Go Cardinals!), I have attended and presented at several Midwest FitFest conferences. Midwest FitFest is a great opportunity for you to learn and gain knowledge but also to network with your peers from other schools! I always get excited to see friends and colleagues I met at FitFest when I see them at national and regional conferences. I hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to learn and gain presenting experience to make yourself a better instructor/trainer! Please let us know what we can do to help you! We are very glad to have you on our campus! Takeshi Fujii, Assistant Director, Fitness & Wellness FitFest Schedule At-A-Glance/Outline [.doc]

In 1999, this conference was organized by and for students to provide learning and leadership opportunities in the field of fitness. Although this is still our first priority, the conference has expanded to professional presentations in an effort to provide continuing education credits (CEC’s) for certified instructors and personal trainers. Midwest FitFest has been hosted by different universities throughout the years and the Department of Recreation Services at Southeast Missouri State University will be the host site for Midwest FitFest, 2009. ABOUT SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE UNIVERSITY Founded in 1873, Southeast Missouri State University has a proud history of excellence in education. First founded as a teacher’s college, the institution has grown into a comprehensive University with more than 150 academic programs in five colleges. In 1899, Southeast’s fifth president, Willard Vandiver, coined the phrase “show me,” which became our unofficial state motto. ABOUT CAPE GIRARDEAU The City of Cape Girardeau just celebrated its 200th year in 2006. The town was officially founded on February 3, 1806, in its present location, when Lorimier donated a tract of land for the public good.
