Recreation Services offers multiple membership options at three great facilities: Student Recreation Center - North, Student Recreation Center - South and the Student Aquatic Center.

Eligibility and Privileges

The primary goal of Recreation Services at Southeast is to provide quality recreation, fitness and social opportunities to the University community. We realize that the Southeast family consists of spouses, dependents, alumni, community members and University guests. It is with our mission and our constituents in mind that we offer a variety of membership opportunities.

Membership Options

Students: Students that pay a general fee and are taking “for college credit” classes on the Cape campus are permitted to use recreational facilities FREE of charge. All you need is to show your Redhawks ID card at the Operation Center.

University Affiliated: Approved verified affiliations are as follows:
Adjunct appointments
Campus Interns
Campus Ministers
Chartwells employees
Cooperating teachers in the community
Cottonwood employees
Dual-enrolled students (taking high school classes and SEMO classes at the same time)
Emeritus faculty, staff, and their spouses
Current faculty and staff at any Southeast campus
Current students of any regional Southeast campus (Malden, Sikeston, Perryville, Kennett)
Verified spouses of SEMO students
Verified retirees from SEMO

Alumni: Verified as being on “alumni status” with the university. Please contact the Department of Recreation Services to verify alumni status.

Community: Patrons in the community that no have verified affiliation with the university. Memberships to use the SRC’s and the Student Aquatic Center are available to university affiliates (employees, etc.), Alumni of Southeast, community members, and spouses. You may join the Student Recreation Center through a variety of memberships offered to our patrons:

Family Memberships

Family memberships are all inclusive only and includes use of BOTH the SRC’s and the SAQ for the year. The “family plan” is good for up to four family members (dependents can only be between the ages of 16 and 23 to use this plan). Patrons must still also observe “Family Hours” (Friday 5 p.m.-Sunday 5 p.m.) during academic sessions for those ages 15 and younger. Family members added can only be spouses or children.

Reduced Rate Dates

Membership fees (all but family memberships) are pro-rated and reduced each semester. Patrons wanting to wait until the “mid-point” will pay 40% less on their membership fees:

Membership Parameters

It is expected that all students and members will abide by all posted and known policies for the SRC’s and all recreational facilities (both indoor and out). It is a privilege to have such a membership, not a right. Thus, any violations of the Student Conduct Code or not abiding by stated policies and procedures may result in forfeiture of your membership and non-refund of all fees. All memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable. The department will give only pro-rated refunds to members based on a verified doctor’s note and discussion with the Director of Recreation Services.

Corporate Memberships

Corporate rates are available to companies looking to the SRC’s as an option for company morale improvement, programs, reduced health insurance rates, and more! Rates are based on the number of employees for which we contract. Please contact Troy Vaughn, Director of Recreation Services at (573) 651-2878 to discuss corporate rates.

What are the Parameters for Corporate Memberships?

Rates only apply to 5 (FIVE) or more memberships from the same Company/Corporation only.  Only good for Full or All-Inclusive memberships; Not valid for “Limited” memberships. Spouses are/become eligible at their normal qualifying rate with a 10% discount.  All rules regarding family hours, etc apply.  All memberships must be purchased within a specified 2 (TWO) week time period. All corporate memberships will have the same start and expiration date.  Photo ID’s required for each patron at a cost of $10/ID.  No senior citizen discount applies.  No locker, towel, laundry services apply. These are billed at the normal rate if there is interest.A signed contract is required for all “Corporate Accounts”.

Parking

With the purchase of a Community or Alumni membership, a free semester parking pass is included. When purchasing your membership, please have your license plate number (and state) information to complete your paperwork. The Department of Recreation Services is NOT RESPONSIBLE for any tickets issued for improper parking. Patrons may park in the upper lot (west of the SRC-North) or in the lower lot (just under the pedestrian bridge at SRC-North. Parking for SRC-South is available on the Broadway Street side (look for signage indicating member parking). Parking maps are available in the Department of Recreation Services (SRC-North, Room 101) upon registration of your vehicle.

Payment of Services

Memberships can be purchased during regular SRC hours. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, local check (for exact amount) and cash. Payroll deduction is available to all Southeast faculty and staff on the Cape Girardeau campus. Ask for more details when purchasing your membership.


SRC Admittance Policies:

  • Students not enrolled in a summer class but are pre-enrolled for the next fall may use recreational facilities on campus, but a fee of $30 will be charged as no student fee is collected from non-enrolled students.
  • Spouses and dependents of students who are 16 years of age or older may purchase a membership to use recreational facilities and services.
  • Guests are permitted into the facility by a valid student or member. The guest is the responsibility of the SEMO-affiliated individual at all times and the guest must be accompanied by the SEMO-affiliated patrons at all times.
  • Daily guest passes (a guest pass is valid for one day) are $5.00/pass.
  • All guests must present a valid photo ID to be left at the Operation center while guests are using the facility. This ID will be returned to the guest upon leaving the facility.
  • Family times in the SRC’s are 5 p.m. – Friday through 5 p.m. Sunday.

Equipment Rental and Checkout

The Student Recreation Centers offers a variety of FREE and rentable sports equipment for students and members. The items include basketballs, weight belts, cones, volleyball standards, and much more! We also sell racquetballs, badminton birdies, nutrition bars, batteries, headsets, an apparel loop service (we can do your laundry for you!), and much more….
