The Master of Arts in secondary education: educational studies is designed to serve the need for advanced study at the graduate level by middle, junior, and senior high school teachers and is built upon the model of the teacher as a competent professional educator. The objective of the degree is to enhance the teaching and organizational ability of the candidates and thus improve classroom instruction. Although this program does not lead to an initial teaching certification, it assists candidates in becoming leaders in their field.
Southeast Missouri State University offers two options for this degree:
Option in Educational Technology: The MA in Educational Technology is an online degree program designed for individuals desiring to integrate effective technology into instructional and training settings. Graduate students will combine educational theory, research, instructional strategies, assessment methods and new technology skills into projects and activities to maximize learning.
Option in Educational Studies:The MA in Educational Studies is an online graduate degree program designed for individuals desiring to advance their pedagogical knowledge in a variety of areas. Students have the option of taking 15 credit hours of online courses and a choice of integrating 15 credit hours from a variety of sources to create a degree program which meets the needs of each individual student: i.e. Autism Certificate, Advanced Placement, specific content, professional development courses, and/or over areas of interest. This program allows graduate students to combine educations in theory, research, instructional strategies, assessment methods, and new technology skills into projects and activities to maximize learning.
