Areas of emphasis currently include: Business (subsets available in Accounting, Business Administration, Management, Management Information Systems, or Marketing), Criminal Justice, Economics, English Literature, Industrial Engineering and Technology, and Math. Major in Organizational Administration The major in organizational administration prepares students for a variety of professional opportunities in management and administration. Designed with part-time students in mind, this major includes structured foundational coursework within multiple business disciplines, while providing a flexible delivery method for students unable to attend on campus. The major also holds AACSB accreditation.
The completion program in technology management recognizes previous technical knowledge by allowing qualified students to gain advanced placement into the industrial technology curriculum. After admission to Southeast, students consult with the program advisor to finalize credit evaluation and finalize the portfolio submission.
RN to BSN completion The completion program in nursing recognizes the prior nursing knowledge and experience of licensed registered nurses (RNs) through advanced placement into the nursing curriculum. After University admission and its accompanying credit evaluation, students consult with an RN to BSN program advisor to verify credit evaluation and remaining hours.
Master of Business Administration (MBA) Option in General Management The general management option is ideal for individuals aspiring to advance into upper managerial positions and holds the same AACSB accreditation as our other options available on-campus. While focusing on business administration coursework emphasizing leadership, communication, information technology and financial analysis, students learn how to manage people and resources in the global marketplace.
The MA in TESOL is ideal for individuals interested in teaching English as another language, including work with children in pre-school through high school, in adult education programs with refugees and immigrants or in college and university programs. Practical application of classroom theory is emphasized as students design a program of language instruction for their own particular setting and then learn to adapt and assess it as they progress through the degree.
The MS in Criminal Justice is a cooperative program offered by Southeast Missouri State University and Missouri Southern State University. Courses focus on the practical application of assessing programs and policies, conducting evaluative research and understanding complex legal issues relevant to the field of criminal justice. This degree is best suited to people currently working in the criminal justice field.
Alternative Certification The Alternative Certification program assists prospective teachers in obtaining certification to teach in Missouri school districts. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the subject area to be taught or a closely related field, as well as have a valid offer of a teaching contract from a Missouri public or private school.
ESOL certification allows teachers to enhance their ability to address the needs of limited English proficient children in the K-12 classroom. Students focus on practical application of theory in respect to their own particular setting while learning in a collaborative environment with other educators. Prospective students must hold a valid teaching certificate in the state of Missouri and have prior coursework in Teaching Reading in the Content Areas and Psychology of the Exceptional Child.
