Advising & Enrollment

At Southeast, admitted students must obtain an Alternate PIN to register for classes.  The Alternate PIN is unique for each student and changes each semester; students receive this during their academic advising appointment. Students should ask their advisor for the preferred timeframe to schedule advising appointments as guidelines can vary by major and department.

If you have not yet been admitted to Southeast, please read our admission page for more information.

Current Students

Current students must meet with their assigned academic advisor (or meet with new advisor if changing majors) in order to receive their Alternate PIN for the next term.   Advisor assignment and contact information is available in the My Southeast Self-Service area of the portal.  Advising information for online undergraduate degrees is available here.

Former Southeast Students

Once readmitted to Southeast, students receive a letter with further instructions and contact information for advising.  Advisors are assigned based upon the major selected on the admission form.  Students will receive their Alternate PIN during the advising appointment.

New Southeast Students

Once admitted to Southeast, any transfer credit will be evaluated towards the degree indicated on the admission application.  When the evaluation is complete, students receive a letter with further instructions and contact information for advising.  Students meet with their assigned academic advisor at First STEP/Transfer Orientation and register for classes that day. In some cases, students may be instructed to schedule an individual appointment with their advisor; these students will receive their Alternate PIN during the advising appointment.

Graduate and Second-Degree Students

Advising and enrollment procedures vary for students pursuing a second baccalaureate or graduate degree.  Students should refer to their admission letter for their advisor assignment and contact information.

Enrollment

Once students have their Alternate PIN, they can enroll for courses using My Southeast Self-Service. Students should enroll as soon as their priority registration date permits. Online courses fill quickly each semester, so early advising and enrollment are highly encouraged.  For further assistance navigating the registration process, please refer to the Online Enrollment Guide.

If you are considering taking an online course, be sure to work through our Online Checklist, so you will be ready when classes start!
