Location

Check-in for First STEP takes place in the University Center on the corner of Henderson St. and Normal Ave. Sessions take place in the University Center, Academic Hall, Kent Library, and various academic buildings. 

Parking for the event is available on Henderson St. in a variety of parked parking lots. 

Check-in Times

All students and guests can check-in from 7:45-8:55 a.m. For families wishing to attend an optional pre-session (below), we recommend checking in during the first 30 minutes. Families who do not wish to attend a session, please check-in by 8:45 a.m. 

Please remember, the entire day is required and you should plan to be on campus until 5 p.m. 

Registration and Morning Pre-Sessions

  • 7:45-8:55 a.m.
    • During check-in, we provide a grab-and-go breakfast, Southeast Key activation and password look-up and take Southeast ID photos. 
  • 8:00-9:00 a.m.
    • Pre-sessions are available based on student's interests
      • Academic Coaching Program Meetings (By Appointment) 
      • Honors Program Breakfast (By Invitation)
      • Office of Military and Veteran's Services Drop-In
      • Student Financial Services Individual Appointments (By Request)

After Enrollment is finished, students return to the University Center to rejoin their families and participate in:

    • Q&A with the Registrar
    • an optional walking tour
    • an afternoon reception at the Honors House
  • When a student is finished for the day, they can turn in their surveys, pick up their ID, and check-out in the Program Lounge
