Southeast Wind Symphony Performing in Concert Oct. 8

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Sept. 30, 2009 – The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Music of the Earl and Margie Holland School of Performing Arts Wind Symphony will perform its first concert of the school year at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at the River Campus.

Barry Bernhardt will conduct the wind symphony, and senior Tanesha Reeves will be featured as soloist in a “Concerto for Flute” composed by Cécile Chaminade. 

The concert will begin with a work by Dmitri Shostakovich and arranged by Donald Hunsburger, entitled “Festive Overture.”  Other music pieces on the program will include “October” composed by Eric Whitacre, “Early Light” by Carolyn Bremer and “Easter Monday on the White House Lawn” by John Philip Sousa.

Tickets for the concert are available at the River Campus Box Office or by calling (573) 651-2265.  Prices are $3 for students with a Southeast student I.D. and $8 for general admission.
