Applied Tuba, Adjunct Faculty

Charles Kelley is currently Adjunct Professor of Tuba at Southeast Missouri State University and a member of the Faculty Brass Quintet. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University. He has served as the principal Tubist with the Taipei Symphony under the baton of  Maestro Felix Chen and the Taipei Philharmonic under the baton of Maestro Henry Mazer. In addition he was a founding member of the Epoch Brass Quintet and has performed with the Yeh Shu-Han Brass quintet.

Mr. Kelley has studied Tuba with Gene Pokorny (Chicago Symphony), Craig Fuller (Omaha Symphony), Jeffery Funderburk (University of Northern Iowa), Dr. Robert Gifford (Southeast Missouri State) and Dr. Paul Kirk (Southeast Missouri State). While studying with Craig Fuller, Mr. Kelley claimed first prize in the Orchestral Instrument Division of the University of Nebraska Arthur E. Westbrook Competition.  Mr. Kelley has served as a Tuba clinician with the Southeast Missouri State Summer Music Camp, The Great Plains Summer Music Camp and the Nebraska All-State Music Camp. While in Taiwan he also served as the low-brass instructor for Chang Tsui elementary school.
