Audition Dates and Times:
- Nov. 14 (after Show Me Day, any instrument or voice) by appointment
- Tuesday Dec. 8 (voice and strings) by appointment; students and parents may also choose to stay for a departmental performance in the evening
- Thursday Dec. 10 (winds and percussion) by appointment; students and parents may also choose to stay for a departmental performance in the evening
- Saturday March 6 starting at 9:00 a.m.; no appointment necessary; any instrument or voice
Other audition times may be arranged. Please contact the Department at music@semo.edu or (573) 651-2141. Students are encouraged to apply and audition as early as possible to take advantage of academic scholarship opportunities.
Place: River Campus - Shuck Recital Hall, Southeast Missouri State University
What: Auditions for admittance as music major; scholarship auditions
What to prepare:
Instrumental: Solo or etude which demonstrates both technical and lyrical aspects of your performing ability. We also will hear scales and sight-reading.
Vocal: One or two solos (contrasting if possible) from standard high school contest literature should be prepared. One ‘music theater’ or ‘sacred’ song may be used. Foreign languages encouraged but not required. An accompanist will be provided if needed.
Keyboard: Two contrasting works which demonstrate both technical and lyrical aspects of your performing ability. We also will hear sight-reading.
