"Quiltbait employs the ephemeral, hyperbolic, and seductive language of Internet clickbait and gives it a comforting permanence through quilting techniques. My work utilizes a combination of fiber art and printmaking techniques to convey a sense of intense concentration, hands-on creation, and intellectual curiosity while working in a series of printed, sewn, and crocheted forms that address environmental impact through base humor and general cheekiness," Sanders said.
Sanders is an assistant professor and area head of printmaking in Southeast Missouri State University's Department of Art. She is also the letterpress area coordinator of the Catapult Press at Southeast's Catapult Creative House and the managing editor of the Mid America Print Council Journal.
Sanders has exhibited work in group exhibitions in countries across the globe including Estonia, Ireland, Japan and the U.S. She recently participated in solo and duo exhibition at the University of St. Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas, the College of the Sequoias in Visalia, California, the Gadsen Museum of Art in Gadsen, Alabama, and the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
The Crisp Museum is located in the Cultural Arts Center at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus, located at 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau, Mo. For more information, call (573) 651-2260 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
