    Arrow, the student newspaper at Southeast Missouri State, has been honored with 11 national awards and 26 state awards during the 2023-2024 school year.

    The Fault Line Film Festival is the annual narrative short film competition for university and high school students held on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University.

    SE Creative gives advertising and public relations students the chance to develop their skills in an agency setting and work on real projects with actual clients.

    TV/Film majors develop more than 70 public affairs and entertainment programs for broadcast on local TV stations annually.

With more than 13,000 square feet of creative space, the Rust Center for Media has the production studios, podcast booths, newsroom, and classroom space to prepare you for a career in media.

See Me Series: Hidden Figures

The See Me Series is part of the Department of Mass Media's efforts to advance diversity education on both SEMO campus and in the wider Cape Girardeau Community.

Pro on the Go Initiative

Students taking classes within the Department of Mass Media that are at the 300-level and above are required to have either a laptop computer capable of running the full Adobe Creative Suite software for use in the classroom during class time.

Mission

The mission of the Department of Mass Media at Southeast Missouri State University is to
prepare a diverse student body to ethically and effectively understand, craft and lead media
communications in an increasingly converged, diverse and interactive media environment. We
recognize a special responsibility to prepare students to overcome personal barriers, recognize
their talents, and achieve their professional goals. We emphasize student-centered and
experiential learning through innovative curricula and work in collaboration with media
