Program Description

The Academic Improvement Plan (AIP) offers individualized academic support to students re-admitted into Southeast Missouri State University after academic suspension or disqualification. Students are required to meet with a designated staff member or Graduate Assistant (GA) to complete a College Success Plan (CSP) for the first eight weeks of the semester. If students are not in attendance for their meetings or do not complete their CSP, the hold on their account will not be removed.

Following are examples of topics of concern typically addressed with College Success Plans:

  • Developing effective study strategies;
  • Developing test-taking strategies;
  • Discovering individual learning style;
  • Taking effective notes;
  • Time management;
  • Managing college life; and/or
  • Navigating the University system.

Learning Assessments

The Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI) is a 10-scale, 80-item assessment of students' awereness about and use of learning and study strategies related to skill, will and self-regulation components of strategic learning. The focus is on both covert and overt thoughts, behaviors, attitudes and beliefs that relate to successful learning and that can be altered through educational interventions.
