Mr. Tapp serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the Missouri Innovation Corporation at Southeast Missouri State University and focuses on entrepreneurship and regional development for internal and external clients. These efforts include research, economic analysis, and implementation strategies for developing economic development and entrepreneurship initiatives. Additionally, his work has included collaboration among local, state, and federal resources to engage and develop analysis that can be implemented at the regional level.
Brian received his Master of Arts in Economics from Western Illinois University and has over 20 years of experience in planning, economic development, transportation, and business financial programs. He has served as the Chairman of RPO America, Chairman of the Iowa Association of Governments and the Arizona Association of Council of Governments. More recently he was named to the Board of Directors of the Education Association of University Centers which provides a forum for University Centers and promotes advocacy for economic development initiatives.
His recent projects have included the development of Regional Entrepreneurship Assessment Strategies in collaboration with economic development districts in Missouri, the development of a $1.4 million revolving loan program targeted toward gap financing, and the feasibility of an Ag Tech Incubator in southeast Missouri. Additionally, other research has included incubator analysis, retail trade research, and the development of a Regional Entrepreneurship and Leadership Conference to advance entrepreneurial development in regional settings.
