Alicia Scott teaches courses in the university’s Sport Management program including Intro to Sport Management, Sport Governance, Sport Ethics, Sport Law, and Sports and Society. Prior to joining the Southeast Missouri State University faculty, Scott served the university’s athletic department in various capacities. She came to Southeast in 1985 as Assistant Women’s Basketball coach, a position she held for 10 years. During that time, Scott coached in six NCAA Tournaments, including an NCAA Division II National Runner Up finish in 1991. Scott later moved into the administrative side of athletics and served the university 10 years as Assistant Athletic Director, overseeing NCAA Compliance and Student Athlete Services.
Away from the university, Scott has been highly involved in youth sports, including USA Swimming and Amateur Athletic Union at the local, regional, and national levels. In 2008 and 2012, Scott had the opportunity to attend the Paralympic Games in Beijing and London, respectively, and continues to assist local athletes with disabilities in their endeavors. Scott, a member of the Sport and Recreation Law Association, is a 2008 inductee in the Barren County, Kentucky, Athletic Hall of Fame, in addition to being a 2008 inductee to the Southeast Missouri State University Athletic Hall of Fame with the 1990-91 Women’s Basketball Team.
