Dr. Steve Nickell, MA, ATC

Steve Nickell teaches courses in the athletic training education program including Sports Injury Management, Advanced Injury Assessment, Introduction to Sports Injuries, and Applied Anatomy. Mr. Nickell is also the clinical education coordinator for the athletic training education program, and is responsible for the clinical assignments for athletic training students.

He was previously the Chair of the department of sports studies at Urbana University in Urbana, OH, as well as the program director for the athletic training education program from 2006 to 2012. Prior to his time at Urbana University, Mr. Nickell was a health/PE teacher and athletic trainer for a high school in Springfield, OH from 2001 to 2006. He has experience working as an athletic trainer with a number of sports at the high school and collegiate levels, and has spent a great deal of time working specifically with wrestling and football. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and a graduate member of Iota Tau Alpha the national athletic training honor society. Mr. Nickell lives in Cape Girardeau with his wife Mindi, and their four children.
