Southeast Missouri State University

The Department of Global Cultures and Languages offers several options for students who want to improve proficiency, get a better understanding of the concepts and improve their overall performance in French, German and Spanish.

LEAD

The Learning Enhancement Across Disciplines (LEAD) Program provides learning forums to students who wish to increase their understanding, improve their skills, and validate their mastery of concepts and content to achieve their full potential. The program is staffed staffed by faculty and accomplished undergraduate peer learning assistants who guide students in the learning process within an atmosphere of cooperative engagement and teamwork. Drop-in peer tutoring is also provided for students who are more responsive to individualized, small-group learning environments (see below).

The LEAD Program is designed to do more than just be an aid for homework. Oftentimes students find it difficult to engage in the language outside of class. The LEAD program provides further opportunities for the student to further their skills in the areas of reading, listening, speaking and writing with native speakers as well professors.

The following is the schedule for the LEAD sessions. All LEAD sessions will take place in AB 205 and the language lab will be available for practice. Simply show up and let the Peer Learning Assistant know what help you are needing. You will be asked to show ID, sign in and sign out. You are encouraged to work with other students to enhance the collaborative effort.

French: Monday and Wednesday 1:00-2:00 PM
German: Mondays 4:00-6:00 PM
Spanish: Tuesday and Thursday 4:00-6:00 PM
