The Master of Arts degree in Higher Education Administration will prepare students for entry-level leadership positions in colleges, universities, community colleges and other post-secondary settings. Potential careers include positions in:

Requirements for Admission:

Students will follow the accepted procedures and admission requirements of the School of Graduate Studies and Research for entry into a master’s degree program. Full admission requires a completed undergraduate degree and a 2.75 GPA, as outlined in the Southeast Missouri State University Graduate Bulletin. Probationary admission may be granted for students who have not finished the undergraduate degree or with less than a 2.75 GPA

Degree Components:

The program leading to the degree of Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration consists of a minimum of 36 semester hours.Three options are provided within the program allowing students to focus on either

  1. Higher Education Administration,
  2. Higher Education Counseling or
  3. Sports Management.

Electives will be chosen in consultation with the Program Coordinator based on the career goals of the student.

Students in the higher education administration program have the option of either completing a thesis or writing a graduate paper and taking a comprehensive examination.
