Ann is responsible for both internal and external communication at the University.
The News Bureau is responsible for communicating news about the University to media outlets throughout the region, as well as internally to the University's employees.
Ann serves as a spokesperson for the University and regularly fields calls from area media seeking information about and expert interviews from the University. She manages the University's online news presence at news.semo.edu and is the University's liaison with radio, television, print and online media throughout the University's service region.
The News Bureau generates stories and distributes them to the area media on student successes, faculty research, arts and entertainment, upcoming events, Board of Regents news and prospective students. The News Bureau also manages the distribution of news throughout the University's Website.
Ann writes and edits the twice-weekly Newswire, an electronic newsletter distributed to University faculty and staff, and maintains the University's Master Calendar.
"My favorite parts of my job are writing and working with the media. I am a reporter by training and love to talk with people, research, gather information and tell their stories," Ann said. "I love my job because every day brings something new."
In addition to her work at the University, Ann is active with several organizations. She is a member of the Tri-State Advertising and Marketing Professionals, the Southeast Missouri Press Association Board and the SEMO Information Officers Association.
Ann and her husband, Rocky, are the parents of two sons. She is an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball and University of Notre Dame Irish football fan.
A Quincy, Illinois, native, Ann received a Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and a Bachelor of Arts in mass communication and government from St. Mary's College in South Bend, Indiana. She has been employed by Southeast for 24 years.
