The Next 20 Years: How Science Will Revolutionize Business, the Economy, Medicine, and Our Way of Life

Dr. Michio Kaku is one of the most widely recognized figures in science in the world today. He is an internationally recognized authority in two areas – Einstein’s unified field theory (which Dr. Kaku is attempting to complete) and predicting trends affecting business, medicine, finance, and our way of life, based on the latest research in science. He has written three NY Times Best Sellers, with the latest, The Future of the Mind, hitting #1 on the NY Times, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble Best Sellers List. He appears regularly on national and international TV, and hosts numerous science TV and radio programs. Kaku’s presentation will cap a series of eclipse-related events at Southeast on August 21st. At 1:20 p.m., he will be among dignitaries on Houck Field as students, faculty, staff and visitors view the total solar eclipse.

Freeman A. Hrabowski, III, has served as President of The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) since 1992. His research and publications focus on science and math education, with special emphasis on minority participation and performance. He chaired the National Academies’ committee that produced the recent report, Expanding Underrepresented Minority Participation: America’s Science and Technology Talent at the Crossroads. He also was named by President Obama to chair the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for African Americans. Hrabowski’s book, Holding Fast to Dreams: Empowering Youth from the Civil Rights Crusade to STEM Achievement (2015) is about his experiences with the civil rights movement and how they led him to develop programs promoting educational success in science and technology for African Americans and others.
