Campus Life and Event Services works to help students get engaged and get connected through community service, leadership opportunities, programming, special events, student involvement, and other campus events and scheduling.

We especially want to help you find events and opportunities early at Southeast. So the University community can enthusiastically welcome new students, we developed Engage in 8 to assist in your transition to campus. The “Engage in 8!” program is designed to engage you in a wide array of opportunities. The schedule is updated regularly. Check back often for updates.

Camp Redhawk

Camp Redhawk is a summer leadership camp designed for new students preparing to enter their first semester at SEMO. This unique experience offers you an introduction to campus life and traditions, immerses you in school spirit, and allows you to meet other new Redhawks.

Scheduling

We also manage reservations for many campus locations. Booking a location for an event is simple. Use this form to schedule events and book a room for your upcoming event.

Special Events

With so many things to do on campus, you'll always be able to find something to do. But there are a few big special events you'll want to mark on your calendar now.

Getting Involved on Campus

  • Student Organizations

Wondering what type of student services or extracurricular activities Southeast offers? With more than 275 social and special interest organizations, Student Life at Southeast includes NCAA Division I Athletics, 10 national fraternities, and eight national sororities. Or are you interested in getting more involved on campus to connect with fellow Southeast students? Check out our list of Student Organizations.
  • Student Activities Council

Student Activities Council (SAC) is one of the largest, most diverse student programming organizations at the University. The organization plans and facilitates a variety of educational, social, cultural, and recreational activities for the campus community. Events include late-night movies, comedians, lectures, musicians, a Spring Fling, and much, much more. Most events are free to Southeast students. All students are encouraged to join the Student Activities Council.
  • Involvement Ambassadors

The Involvement Ambassador program at Southeast was designed to help new students find their way at Southeast. Through integration and Redhawk connections, all students are sure to find something that fits them!
  • Student Government

The Student Government Association is the representative body of students at Southeast Missouri State University. We strive to enhance the Redhawk experience by listening to the students and amplifying their voices for all to hear. We share the student perspective while working collaboratively and collectively with the administration of the University to efficiently resolve issues, provide unique opportunities, weigh in vocally on pressing matters, and support our fellow Redhawks.
  • Community Service/Volunteer

Southeast Serves offers both one-time and ongoing service opportunities that address critical needs in our community through meaningful and mutually beneficial partnerships. Community service activities may include but are not limited to academic service-learning, co-curricular service learning, and other co-curricular student volunteer activities. Community service includes both direct service to citizens and indirect service.
  • Leadership

Get involved in a leadership role through participation in the First-Year Leadership Program, Emerging Leaders, and President's Leadership Academy, or within a student organization.
  • Voter Information

At the heart of the University’s mission is the support and development of students who contribute to the region and beyond. A critical element of this development is engaged citizens who participate in the election process through a partnership with SEMO Votes.
  • Campus Ministries & Religion

Campus Ministries and Religion is another great way to get involved on campus. If you are interested in learning more about the various ministry organizations on campus, Campus Life and Event Services can help guide you to the right place!

Expression Policy

The exchange of ideas is critical to the University’s mission and is central to the University’s role to “challenge students to extend their intellectual capacities, interests, and creative abilities; develop their talents; and acquire a lifelong enthusiasm for learning”
