"As an artist and maker, I don’t think a day has gone by in my life when I was not viewing the world with the eye of an artist. Learning to see beauty and the subtle nuances in the smallest and greatest of objects; the flow of a movement; the curve of a leaf; the responsiveness of my touch to the clay. All of these images and sensations have influenced the creation of my ceramic and fiber sculpture. I combine my interest of the natural world with a personal narrative, connecting my sense of place with the object. A day without making, thinking or expressing a feeling would be like a day without air."
Caroline also constructs one-of-a kind handmade books and jewelry.
She and her husband, Dr. Bruce Kahler, raised two wonderful college educated children, Lauren and Andrew who have left the nest and started nests of their own.
