Graphic Design

The Graphic Design/Illustration Area consistently provides art students with a strong professional foundation, building on previously completed coursework in 2D/3D design, color, and drawing, as well as courses in the core curriculum. Adobe software instruction coupled with the creative exploration of conceptual Graphic Design, provides a solid platform upon which students can build a skillset adaptable to new developments in the field. Studies in print design and traditional and Digital Illustration, are offered with elective courses in web design, motion graphics, digital photography and video. Additionally, a professional practices seminar is offered from other areas of the department. Graphic Design related internships, practical collaborations with the marketing department, tours of Graphic Design related sites, and visits from professional designers provide essential opportunities for preparing students in their professional careers. Award winning students from the Graphic Design area have adopted the "learn to learn" motto enabling them to be proficient in their fields.
