Welcome to the Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts' Website

The Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts at Southeast are comprised of the Departments of Art, Music and Theatre & Dance. River Campus provides a unique opportunity for artists of all talents to spend time and work together on a daily basis. The campus is comprised of and includes state of the art classrooms, studios and performance spaces. In addition, students reside in dorms which include wireless internet, work out facilities, cafeteria, computer labs and the Arts Resource Center all on site. Studies include programs leading to either a professional degree or a liberal arts degree. And Southeast Missouri State University offers more than $17 million in scholarship awards annually, making a Southeast education possible for any student who seeks it. Many options are available, for every discipline within the Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts. Want to know more?

In addition to strong academic programs the university is also committed to the community. We offer international touring performances as well as free concerts, exhibits and hands-on learning throughout the year for students of all ages.

And this fall we are getting ready to offer two new workshops to younger students! Students in grades Kindergarten through 4th grade will learn to sing, dance and act for musical theatre as they experience a glimpse into the process through the Broadway hit Elf, the Musical. The musical is based on the cherished holiday film. Elf is the story of Buddy, a human elf, who embarks on a journey from The North Pole to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Students will spend their Saturday mornings rehearsing popular songs, scenes, and dances from the beloved show.

And older students, grades 5th through 8th grades, can join in on the fun by learning scenes from the adventurous play, Tom Sawyer, based on the classic novel written by Mark Twain. Tom Sawyer is a tale of a young Tom Sawyer and the mischief he finds himself a part of. Along with his best friend, Huckleberry Finn, and love interest, Becky Thatcher, his greatest adventures are presented on stage. Actors will find their voice and gain self-confidence in this artistic environment. These Saturday afternoons will include physical and vocal warm-ups, character-building exercises, and a final performance that takes place on the last day for family and friends.
