Effective August 1, 2015, Abilify Excluded from UHC Prescription Drug Coverage

On April 28, 2015, the FDA approved the first generic versions of Abilify (Aripiprazole), an antipsychotic medication used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and other mental health conditions.  Based on the high cost of this medication, brand Abilify will be excluded from UHC prescription drug coverage effective August 1, 2015.  The generic equivalent will be placed on Tier 3.  UHC will send letters to affected members.  Letters will include the information on the generic equivalent.
