Southeast Missouri State University

  • The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program is a supplemental academic and leadership program designed to prepare university students to become officers in the U.S. Air Force.

  • Students enrolled in Air Force ROTC are a cross section of Southeast’s student body. They have a wide variety of interests and majors. Many Air Force ROTC students are campus leaders in a variety of areas.

  • The Air Force ROTC Program at Southeast provides collegiate men and women with the chance to learn about the Air Force’s outstanding leadership and management opportunities both in flying and non-flying fields.

  • Southeast is one of only 144 colleges and universities in the country to offer an AFROTC program.

  • Air Force ROTC provides you with an opportunity to earn an Air Force commission while completing University requirements for a bachelor’s degree in your chosen area of study.

  • The program will enable you to explore the work and lifestyles of Air Force officers early in your college career while earning elective college credit hours, but without any military obligations during the first two years of your college experience (unless you accept an Air Force ROTC scholarship).

  • You only have a military obligation during your freshman and sophomore years if you apply and are accepted for an Air Force ROTC scholarship.

  • Air Force ROTC offers two types of scholarship programs. All scholarships pay tuition, book fees and a tax-free monthly stipend of $300-$500 per month. Juniors and seniors receive a nontaxable monthly stipend whether or not they have a scholarship.

  • Air Force ROTC students are double honored when they complete college since they receive not only their degree, but also a second lieutenant’s commission in the U.S. Air Force.

  • Many graduates of our program go on to earn accredited graduate degrees paid for entirely by the U.S. Air Force.

  • Salaries in the U.S. Air Force are competitive with those in industry, with benefits and leave with pay (30 days annually) exceeding most corporations.
